Learn from the movies

Unlike others, movies are not a usual part of my weekend routine. I am choosy when it comes to watching movies. To me a movie must be unique and must have good reviews. So I am a rare breed who will invest time and money for a movie and expect return on investment. I watched some movies not recently though which I keep recommending to everyone I talk to. Unlike yester year movies, the concentration is more towards unwanted stuff to create more hype and revenues while forgetting to create some positive impact on the audience. So today’s movies are actually unfit to invest – both time and money. Ofcourse there are some exceptions to this statement.

I do make some compromises on investing time more than money for movies but only to make a few people happy – my friend Naga, my wife Aishu and my nephew Bhushan. In this blog more than wasting your time in talking about bad movies, I am interested to share some amazing movies and the insight I drew. Just 3 movies – I identified lot of messages and to implement them in my life, I will need another birth.

The first movie called “Mozhi” pictured from lateral thinking team– Prakash Raj and Radha mohan. I am sure South Indians can identify this movie immediately as a PERFECT MOVIE. The movie had a right mix of humor, love, feel and happiness coupled with soothing music. I felt like something is happening next to me. The concept is a normal guy falling in love with physically disabled woman and marrying her. The immediate reaction from the crowd is – “Respect and love all human irrespective of how they are”. But I left my thoughts to fly and take more insights. Some I felt was:
1) There is a good human in everyone. It is all about identifying them
2) Seeing and hearing are short lived whereas feeling lives forever. A deaf and dumb can feel music
3) If you show love on others, the love in return is poured on you

The next movie called “Abhiyum Naanum” from the same combination. The concept is about father’s love on a daughter. Again my take aways are more:
1) The movie proves the law of attraction – be and do good, you will always encounter good things and good people in life
2) First impression may be the best impression. But without understanding a person creating an impression denies the happiness of one’s life
3) One can feel God’s blessings through kids speech and actions
4) Today’s tiring activities becomes tomorrow’s sweet memories. So do a lot of activities to have a lot of memories for the future
5) Whether a kid of oldman, rich or poor - a human must know to respect others.
6) There is a human in everyone – it is about identifying them

The third movie, I am sure everyone will jump from their seats –Tare Zameen Par”. Aamir Khan made everyone cry. I honestly have no words to describe the movie as every clip spoke thousand words. I watch that movie every week and I never get bored. God has gifted everyone with a unique strength and none can compete them on that. There is a talent in everyone like Ishaan and not sure if everyone was fortunate enough to have an influencer like Nikumbh sir.

But human’s have the tendency to assess on a generic scale and compare one with each other. This happens mostly with school children. If everyone has to score Rank#1, who will be 2, 3 & 4?
· Had Steve Jobs continued in high school, we might have not seen Apple Inc, a company known for innovation
· If Sachin was forced to pursue higher education, the world wouldn’t have identified a Master batsman
· Had Tiger Woods dropped his golf bat and went for education and other routine, we wouldn’t have seen a GOLF legend.
All and more characters I am sure would have gone through several discriminations and criticisms in life. But life is all about standing against the criticisms and proving them wrong.

Let me take my example so that you will feel a next door person exaple. More than academics, I always loved to talk and impress people by words but all that I was awarded during school times were – Talkative, Thinking beyond his age, Must control this guy, Poor in studies etc., People identified me talking but didn’t have the attitude to listen and appreciate what I was talking about.

But thanks to God who gave me a person life Nikumbh sir (my mother )who fed me with loads of attitude and today I stand in front of everyone and proudly claim – “Sales and Marketing professional and is all about talking and impressing people”. To support my claim is my 5 years of successful career, better growth, relationship with great people, place in the good book of my future generation. My voice is daily heard across states in USA, many read and like my writings, communicate to the customer to fill the gaps, solve the customer's escalations and what not.

I salute the Nikumbh sirs (couple of them) who identified and made me reach this height.

Dear friends, please join hands with me and help the future generation to live their passion as I see them responsible to design a corrupt free and powerful India.

Still alive and living with us

28th March 2008, the day when I felt I was left in the dark and my life turned upside down. My mother passed away suddenly suffering for a few minutes. Didnt know what was happening around and life was more tough as I started understanding about life and identifying the true well wishers of my life. Lots of sleepless nights and life was filled with tears most of the time.

But now that it is over 3 years since she left us, I want to keep my emotions aside and think what is that she has done to me after she bade "Good Bye" to me. People asked me lot of times - "Did Mom come to you in your dreams, is she talking to you". I feel she is with me even today and blessing me with so many things in life.

What has she gifted me in my life?

She has given me an oppotunity to learn the art of living.

She has blessed me with an opportunity to identifying and managing people around me

She has blessed me with an attitude to think and plan for future rather than being playful.

She has blessed me with a replacement (my lovable wife)

She has blessed me with an amazing career and wealth

She has given me the responsibility to take care of my father.
She has taught me the importance of relationship in life.
Last but not the least, she has taught me the meaning of living this life.

Thanks a lot Amma for giving me all the blessings but even now I feel you could have stayed and taught me things rather than pushing me into the ocean and making me learn myself! I pray God that he must give all happiness, wealth, joy, health, excitement in your next avatar and forgive me for all the troubles I have given to you. You are still living and will continue to be with all of us! Miss you badly.

Your lovable friend and son.

Dedicated to my Guru!

Dear all,
This is the first time in my 27 years, I have developed some patience to write blogs. I dedicate my first blog to Mr. Achal Rangaswamy who identified the writer in me. I am sure you will forgive me for the mistakes committed!

I use to think - "Is it only a Bschool grad who can succeed in becoming a successful corporate?" But when I met Achal sir and interacted with him, that was the time when I started feeling that the attitude, hardwork and simplicity will take one to heights and not a "Gold plated certificate"

A graduate who started his career as a Sales trainee and has grown to President, Sales and Marketing of a multi million dollar company. He has never been to a B school but now several B schools are awaiting his lectures. He has no B school certificates with him but got some certificates which lots of others failed to acquire - ATTITUDE, CONFIDENCE and BEING HONEST!

I can write thousands of case studies on his Time Management, Team building and management, Networking, his BRAND EQUITY and more topics!

His book on "Time is Money" helped several people to overcome their issues on Time management and prioritizing activities to perform more effectively. I would suggest all my friends to read this book (especially young corporates).
To summarize - Achal Sir is a blend of traditional experience and fresh innovative ideas that makes him unique from the rest of the "C" Level Executives. I am proud and happy to claim as one of his Students. May God give you more energy, happiness and prosperity.
Regards.
